GVL complies to the Principles and Criteria of the Roundtable for Sustainable Palm Oil (RSPO) and GAR Social and GAR Social and Environmental Policy (GSEP)¬† which includes no development on High Carbon Stock (HCS) forests, no development on peat, no burnings for new plantings, respecting the rights to Free, Prior and Informed Consent (FPIC) for indigineous peoples and local communities.” Further, according to our soil maps in all the ESIA/HCVA there is no peat in the areas where we operate.
As a follower of the United Nations Global Compact, GVL supports the Compact’s Ten Principles which are based on The Universal Declaration of Human Rights, The International Labor Organization’s Declaration on Fundamental Principles and Rights at Work, The Rio Declaration on Environment and Development and The United Nations Convention Against Corruption.
In addition, GVL supports the United Nations Framework on Business and Human Rights and the Guiding Principles for the Implementation of the United Nations ‘Protect, Respect and Remedy’ Framework. The UN Global Compact’s specific Ten Principles are:
