President Weah Visits GVL Tarjouwon Mill

Sinoe County– H.E. Dr. President George Manneh Weah and his entourage visited the GVL Tarjouwon Mill in Sinoe County on Saturday, May 8, 2021 as part of this Third Leg Nationwide County Tour. The President lauded Golden Veroleum Liberia for the construction of a modern oil palm mill that has provided jobs for Liberians.

Speaking at a brief presentation held on how the mill is being run, the Liberian leader said his government will to do everything possible to ensure that GVL acquire more land for oil palm development, adding that he is impressed with the facilities provided for employees which includes electricity from the Mill.

He further urged the company to pave the stretch of road leading to mill to ensure its security and longevity

Also speaking at the ceremony, GVL Vice President for Strategy and Stakeholder Engagement Elvis G. Morris welcomed the President to the facility and gave an overview of GVL activities in Liberia, while Kokolo Kpanyanwou, a Liberian engineer trained in Indonesia in mill operations led a presentation on how the mill is being operated.

Speaking during a town hall meeting held with President George Weah and his entourage in Unification town, the Superintendent of Tarjuowon Statutory District, Hon. Annie Pobleh and the National Chairman of the Tarjouwon people association Bishop Andrew Jaysay lauded the government of Liberia for the GVL concessions which according to them has brought light to their District and Sinoe County.

The duo said the presence of GVL in Tarjouwon has brought tremendous change in the community, citing employment, road construction, support to education and health as some of the many benefits the community is enjoying from the GVL operations.
